sunset sound, 2025

This work is a visual dub session, built layer by layer, with rhythm, echo, and space held in tension. It’s named after another track by Pachyman, whose music moves like waves: syncopated, saturated, always anchored in a deep pulse. I wanted to take that sonic world and translate it into a kind of cosmic choreography, where every shape feels like a note, a hit, or a flicker of delay.

The forms here bloom and collapse; some are floral, some atomic, some pure light. They could be fireworks or data bursts or fragments of memory exploding in slow motion. There’s a looseness to how they float and cluster, but also a logic, like a track that’s been deconstructed and remixed into visual motifs. Dub has this amazing ability to hold space and silence as powerfully as sound, and I tried to reflect that in the black field, which hums underneath everything like a low frequency.

To me, this piece is about frequency and vibration, how we’re always tuned in, absorbing patterns, color, rhythm, even when we don’t consciously notice it. It’s also about joy: the way repetition can become trance, and trance can become transcendence.
