This work refers to a source of radioactivity generally consisting of instruments, gauges, and other devices that contain small amounts of radioactive material sealed in metal casings and are used in various industrial applications and construction activities. These sources are typically abandoned, lost, inadvertently disposed of in the environment or in waste facilities that do not accept radioactive wastes, or recycled as scrap metal.
